Castiglion del Bosco’s Brunello di Montalcino is crafted exclusively from Sangiovese grapes sourced from the Capanna vineyard, located in the northwest area of Montalcino. The unique characteristics of this vineyard, including its natural isolation, altitude, and soil composition rich in clay shale and marl (Galestro rock), impart refined elegance and pronounced personality to the wine.

Visual: Deep ruby red with garnet reflections.

Nose: The nose starts floral, with aromas of roses, vanilla, and cherry, then turns earthy, before spiced undertones of cloves and bergamot float to the surface.

Palate: The cherries return on the palate, with more bitter citrus and earth tones, while finely grained tannins tickle the back of your tongue.

Pairing: The complexity and structure of this wine make it an excellent match for:

  • Red Meat: Braised beef, roasted lamb, and game dishes.
  • Pasta: Rich pasta dishes with truffle or mushroom sauces.
  • Cheese: Aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino.

Castiglion del Bosco is a historic estate located in the heart of Tuscany’s Brunello di Montalcino wine-producing region. Established in the 12th century, the estate has a rich history that includes periods of conflict and cultural development. Notably, it became a founding member of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium in 1967, underscoring its commitment to the region’s winemaking heritage.

In 2003, the estate was acquired by Massimo Ferragamo, a member of the renowned Ferragamo family, who embarked on a comprehensive restoration to preserve its historical integrity while introducing modern amenities. This transformation led to the creation of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, a luxury resort that seamlessly blends traditional Tuscan architecture with contemporary comforts.

The estate spans approximately 5,000 acres within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Val d’Orcia, offering breathtaking views of rolling hills, forests, and vineyards. This expansive landscape provides a serene backdrop for the resort’s accommodations, which include suites, villas, and private residences. Guests can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Tuscany while enjoying the estate’s amenities.

At the heart of Castiglion del Bosco’s offerings is its winery, which produces acclaimed Brunello di Montalcino wines. The estate’s commitment to quality winemaking is evident in its state-of-the-art facilities and dedication to traditional methods. Visitors can participate in guided tours and tastings, gaining insight into the winemaking process and the unique characteristics of the estate’s wines.

Beyond wine, the estate offers a range of activities and amenities, including a private golf club, a spa, and culinary experiences that highlight local Tuscan cuisine. The resort’s dedication to preserving the art and heritage of the region is evident in its approach to hospitality, ensuring that guests experience the authentic charm of Tuscany
